IBM Watson x NFL
As a sports fan, you likely already believe that your passion, support, and confidence contribute to your team’s success. TD Ameritrade’s data supports this, showing that more confident investors are also more successful. So, we set out to scientifically prove the power of confidence—in football and investing—through a partnership between IBM and the NFL.
We collaborated with IBM Watson to create a custom AI algorithm that analyzed participants’ social data and projected it in a digital environment to measure NFL fans' confidence on social media. Users’ scores were ranked and contributed to their team’s position on our leaderboard. Remarkably, the platform (powered by IBM Watson) predicted the Super Bowl-winning team weeks before the actual game.
